    Parliamentary Enquiry for an Australian Standard for the training and use of private contracted security and detection dogs

    Submissions are open until 30 June 2020.

    The scope of new Australian standards is focused on the following areas:
    • Training and performance requirements for service delivery by patrol (security) and detection dogs (explosives, biosecurity).
    • Requirements for handler education and training.
    • Requirements for the selection, care, accommodation, welfare and breeding of these
    working dogs.

    We in the UK are developing some standards for conservation dogs, although all other areas need looking at (Explo-Drugs etc.) there will almost certainly be some areas of common ground that we may be able to share to ensure best practice for all.
