Liz Brimson
I am new to conservation detection and I’ve been delighted to find it a supportive and welcoming community. Really looking forward to attending Skylos Ecology’s upcoming advanced workshop and I’ll be at the ACDN conference online.
I have nearly 10 years of experience training, instructing, judging and competing across a variety of dog sports, including Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) and sport detection (K9 Nose Work). I currently judge for the Australian Dog Agility Association (ADAA) and Australian Canine Scent Work (ACSW) and I am a committee member for Townsville Outdoor Agility Dog Sports (TOADS). I am currently an Associate Nose Work Instructor (ANWI) with the National Association of Canine Scent Work (NACSW – US). I was invited to instruct at the inaugral Australian K9 Nose Work Camp scheduled for 2020, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 but I’ve been invited back for take two in 2023.
I hold a Bachelor of Life Sciences which included study across animal behaviour, microbiology, pasture science and animal handling across domestic and wildlife species. I also have experience as a laboratory technician in veterinary anatomy and histology.
Sally is a 5 year old Australian Kelpie (Luack Sally, dual registered ANKC/WKC).
Sally is currently proficient on sport detection odours (essential oils not present in nature) with the ability to rapidly add additional odours to her repetoire. She is developing her broadacre search skills and at present is best suited to relatively small area, detail work. When not training detection, her favourite thing to do is chase frisbees – Townsville locals might have seen her doing freestyle disc demos at local expos.
Kelpie pup expected to join the team mid-2023.
Currently looking to add a rescue dog to the team – seeking short haired dog under 3 years of age and under 25kg who needs a job!
